Paving Contractors in Auckland

Pavecraft is an Auckland paving contractor working across commercial, civil and residential projects - from a courtyard or a pool surround at a private home, through to machine laid paving over a business park, a town centre upgrade or a retirement village. We have been laying paving in Auckland for over 20 years, and we are the preferred installer for Firth and Jagas paving.

Because we also do our own excavation, base course and drainage, the ground under the paving is our responsibility as well as the paving itself. That is usually what separates paving that still looks right in ten years from paving that starts to move in two.

Machine laid paving for large areas

We run fully automatic paving machines, which lift and lay a whole layer of pavers straight off the pallet. On a large commercial or industrial area that is dramatically faster than laying by hand, and the saving shows up in both the programme and the price. It is the right method for car parks, hardstand, business park footpaths, streetscapes and any large repeating area, and it is one of the reasons main contractors use us on programmes where the paving cannot be the trade that holds everything else up.

Commercial and civil paving

Most of our work is commercial. Car parks and hardstand, footpaths and shared paths, town centre and streetscape paving, subdivisions, schools, retirement villages, healthcare and airport business parks. We are set up to work under a main contractor's health and safety system, we hold Sitewise Gold, and we are used to sequencing our work around other trades on a live site. Courtyard, pool surround and residential paving

At the residential end we lay courtyards, patios, entranceways, pool surrounds and pool copings, outdoor tiling, steps and stepping stones. This is work that gets looked at closely and walked on barefoot, so the setting out, the cuts around the pool shell and the fall away from the house matter more than the paver itself. We can work from a landscape architect's drawing or set it out with you on site.

Permeable paving and Gobi blocks

Permeable paving lets water pass through the surface and soak away rather than running straight off it, which reduces pooling, reduces surface wear and slows the rate at which stormwater reaches the network. We install porous concrete and ceramic permeable systems, and Gobi and grass block paving where a green, load bearing surface is wanted for overflow parking, fire access lanes or swale edges.

Permeable surfaces are often chosen for stormwater and impervious area reasons on a consented job. What is required on any particular site is a matter for the project engineer or Auckland Council rather than for us, but we install to the specification and we are happy to demonstrate the products to you before you commit to one.

Deck jack and pedestal paving

Deck jack paving sits on adjustable pedestals over a membrane rather than on a bedding layer, which creates a void beneath the paving for water to run away and for services and cabling to run through. It is how paving is done on podium decks, roof terraces and over basement carparks, and it lets a level, flat finished surface sit over a substrate that is deliberately falling to drain.

Paving repairs, lift and relay

Paving that has sunk, lifted, spread or lost its jointing sand can usually be lifted, the base repaired and the same pavers relaid, at a fraction of the cost of replacing it.
