Pavecraft for Main Contractors: Paving, Kerbing and Concrete Packages
If you run projects for a construction or civil company, you already know what you want from a paving subcontractor. Turn up when you say you will. Bring your own people and machinery. Hold the programme without being chased. Get the safety paperwork right the first time. Finish to the drawing, and do not leave a defects list. Pavecraft has been that subcontractor for Auckland's main contractors for over 20 years, and we have alliances with Dempsey Wood, Hick Construction, Ross Reid, Teak Construction, Macrennie Construction, Naylor Love and NZ Strong to show for it.
The packages we take
We price and deliver the hard surfaces as one package or as separate trades, whichever suits the head contract.
- Paving - machine laid interlocking paving for hardstand, car parks and plazas; hand laid pavers, cobbles and setts for streetscapes and public spaces; granite and natural stone for entrances and foyers; pedestal paving over membrane on podiums and terraces. See paving services.
- Kerbing - extruded and formed kerb and channel, edge beams, mountable kerbs, traffic islands, speed tables and roundabouts. See kerb and channel.
- Concrete - footpaths, vehicle crossings, driveways, hardstand, external slabs, exposed aggregate and coloured finishes. See concrete.
- Siteworks - excavation, base preparation, retaining walls and drainage under our own surfaces. See siteworks.
Where we have done it
Auckland Airport (the Landings Business Park, Quad 7, the DHL and Hellmann's logistics warehouses), the Northern Busway, Highbrook Business Park, the Papakura and Warkworth town centres, Summerset retirement villages, the Selwyn Foundation at Point Chevalier, Diocesan School, Avondale College, Otahuhu College, Alexandra Park apartments, and subdivisions at Whenuapai, Auranga, Waiata Shores and Long Bay. Our project list has the full set, grouped by sector.
Safety and pre qualification
Pavecraft holds Sitewise Gold, the highest tier of independent health and safety certification available to a New Zealand contractor, and we are Site Safe members. Our systems, training, plant and processes have been independently audited, so our crews arrive pre qualified for most main contractors' health and safety systems and inductions. Task analyses, SWMS and toolbox records come as standard, and our supervisors run the daily coordination on site.
Programme and resourcing
We run our own crews of pavers and concreters across Auckland, with our own supervisors and our own machinery, including mechanical paving equipment for large areas. That means we can scale a crew up to hold a date rather than tell you the paver supply is late. We work from Whangarei to Karaka and we are used to airport, council, Auckland Transport and occupied site rules.
Supply relationships
We work closely with Firth and Jagas Paving, both of whom recommend Pavecraft to their customers for installation of their products, and we have laid most of the paving systems specified in Auckland over the last two decades. If the paver on the drawing is unusual, we have probably laid it.
Pricing a package
Send us the drawings and the specification and we will return a priced schedule with the base design and any buildability comments, usually within the week. If the design is still moving we are happy to price a stage or a rate schedule so you can carry a number. Early involvement is cheaper for everyone, because most of what goes wrong with paving on a large site is decided in the base design, not on the day.
